Abstract: This study investigates the adoption of cloud computing among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Zimbabwe, with the goal of understanding its effectiveness, identifying key result areas, uncovering adoption barriers, and recommending best practices. The research is driven by the increasing importance of cloud-based technologies in improving operational efficiency, reducing IT costs, and enhancing competitiveness among SMEs globally. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study collects data through surveys and interviews from selected SMEs across various sectors in Zimbabwe. The findings highlight several barriers to adoption, including limited awareness, data security concerns, and poor internet infrastructure. Despite these challenges, the research reveals that cloud computing significantly improves data management, scalability, collaboration, and service delivery in SMEs that have adopted it. The study identifies core result areas where cloud computing adds value and concludes with practical recommendations for SMEs to leverage best practices for successful implementation. This research provides critical insights for SME decision-makers, policymakers, and IT service providers seeking to support digital transformation in the Zimbabwean SME sector.
